The Delhi Congress has decided not to celebrate Holi festival at its office.
Rajesh Lilothia, Working President, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee, said that in the wake of Pulwama attack, in which 40 CRPF personnel were martyred, the party will not celebrate Holi at the office.
The Holi celebration has been cancelled this year at the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee Office as the party wants to pay condolence to the Pulwama martyrs, Rajesh Lilothia told Mail Today.
A grand Holi celebration is organised at the office every year and leaders from the Congress’ Purvanchal Morcha are tasked to invite as many as people they could.
The Delhi Congress’ decision, however, didn’t go well with the Delhi unit of the BJP. Adesh Gupta, mayor, North Municipal Corporation of Delhi, termed the move as a political gimmick.
"This is just a political gimmick. Today is a sad day for the BJP as one of our great leaders, Manohar Parrikar, has left us. There shall be a limit of politicisation of Pulwama attack, he said. On one hand they ask for proof of what our armed forces have done, and on the other hand they show solidarity to the martyrs," Gupta added.
