Days after the dastardly terror attack on CRPF jawans in South Kashmir’s Pulwama, a grenade explosion rocked the Jammu bus stand, killing one and injuring 32 persons, Thursday morning.
It was the third such grenade blast at the Jammu bus stand in last one year. The deceased has been identified as 17-year-old Mohammad Sharik from Haridwar, Uttarakhand.
The condition of four persons, two of whom underwent surgeries, was stated to be critical. After the blast, cops cordoned off the area and a manhunt was launched to nab the terrorists who carried out the attack.
Within six hours, the accused Yasir Javed Bhat was nabbed from a check point on Jammu-Srinagar national highway in Nagrota and produced before the media. Yasir Javed Bhat was asked by Hizbul’s Kulgam district commander Farooq Ahmad Bhat to carry out grenade blast in Jammu city. He arrived in Jammu from Kulgam in the morning and then he carried out this blast at the bus stand. After gathering evidence, we launched a manhunt to nab the accused. He was apprehended by Nagrota police while he was trying to flee to the Kashmir valley, said IGP of Jammu Zone Manoj Sinha while speaking to India Today TV.
According to the police, the accused has confessed to the crime during the interrogation and further investigation was on in the case. A large number of people also gathered at the blast site and staged protests against Pakistan, Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti.
We heard a loud explosion and then we saw people lying in a pool of blood. We extended our help to the police in taking the injured to hospital, said eyewitnesses.
