MG (Morris Garages) Motor will finally launch the much-awaited Hector today. The premium SUV, which will mark the entry of the British carmaker in India, is first of the several vehicles the company has lined up for our country.
On June 4, MG (Morris Garages) Motor India's maiden showroom came up in Gurugram and the bookings for MG Hector started for an initial amount of Rs 50,000. The test drives for the premium SUV began on June 15. By September 2019, the company aims to bolster its network to 250 centers across the country.
Almost all the important details about MG Hector are out. Much has been written and said about the premium SUV. In case you have missed something, here is all the relevant information you need to know about it.

MG Hector Price

This is the most important information people want to know. Expectations are that MG Hector will be priced between Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom) and Rs 20 lakh (showroom). However, don't be surprised if the company introduces the premium SUV at a price below Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom) keeping the competition in mind.

MG Hector Rivals

MG Hector will challenge the likes of Mahindra XUV500, Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass and Hyundai Creta. The upcoming Kia Seltos is being seen as another major competitor.

MG Hector Engine

A 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine will deliver 143 PS and 250 Nm of peak torque in MG Hector. This motor will have a 6-speed manual gearbox, along with an option for a 6-speed DCT (Double Clutch Transmission). Then, there is the 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel powertrain that will produce 170 PS and 350 Nm of peak torque and will be offered with a 6-speed manual transmission. MG Motor is also providing a 48V hybrid option with the petrol variant. Naturally, it will be more fuel efficient, but there will only be a 6-speed manual gearbox with this variant.

MG Hector Mileage

The most fuel efficient will be the 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel variant with a mileage of 17.41 kmpl. The hybrid option will be good for 15.81 kmpl. The 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol manual variant will deliver 14.16 kmpl, with the DCT option returning with a figure of 13.96 kmpl.

MG Hector Variants and Colours

The premium SUV will be available in Style, Super, Smart and Sharp variants. There will also be five colour options to choose from and these are Starry Black, Coloured Glaze Red, Burgundy Red, Aurora Silver and Candy White.

MG Hector Exteriors

The premium SUV boasts of an eye-catching design with features like front grille with surrounding chrome accent, split LED headlamps with LED DRLs and LED fog lamps. At the rear, one will find LED tail lamps and LED fog lamps. Other features include dual tone machined alloys, shark fin antenna, floating light turn indicators and heated ORVM.

MG Hector Interiors

MG Motor India has been generous with regard to the space inside the cabin of Hector. There is more than enough room for five passengers, with a humongous 587-litre boot. There will be features like 7-inch coloured MID, 10.4-inch HD touchscreen AVN system, 4-way power adjustable co-driver seat, 2nd-row seat recline, fatigue reminder setting, powered tailgate opening, dual-pane panoramic sunroof and eight colours ambient lighting. Apart from the iSMART connectivity technology, the premium SUV will also feature eight speakers and tweeters.
