  • Rishabh Pant smashed 49 off 21 balls as Delhi Capitals (165/8) beat Sunrisers Hyderabad (162/8)
  • Rishabh Pant's knock was laced with five sixes and two boundaries
  • Rishabh Pant has so far amassed 450 runs in 15 matches at an average of 37.50
Former England captain Michael Vaughan wants the Indian cricket team selectors to reconsider their decision to leave out Rishabh Pant from the 2019 World Cup squad and wants him to be included in it after watching his knock against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Wednesday.
Rishabh Pant smashed 49 off 21 balls as Delhi Capitals defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Eliminator of the Indian Premier League 2019 in Vizag.
Delhi rode on Pant and Prithvi Shaw's knocks to chase down 163 with two wickets in hand and 1 ball to spare. Shaw top-scored in the match with 56 runs.
Rishabh Pant's knock was laced with five sixes and two boundaries as he once again showed his class and proved to the world what he can do with the bat once on song. Pant wasn't included in the 15-man Indian squad for the World Cup with Dinesh Karthik getting the preference over the Delhi cricketer.
But that decision has left Vaughan baffled after he saw what Pant did in Wednesday night's game.
Pant was inconsistent in the initial stages of the league phase but has hit form at the right time for Delhi Capitals as they bid to reach their maiden IPL final this season. He has so far amassed 450 runs in 15 matches at an average of 37.50 with three fifties.
"How is @RishabPant777 not in the World Cup squad ...... Pretty sure #India still have time to change ........ !!!!!," Vaughan tweeted.
Delhi Capitals will face defending champions Chennai Super Kings in Qualifier 2 in Vizag on Friday. The winner will meet Mumbai Indians in the final on May 12. DC have never made it to the final but they will seriously start believing now. All they need to do now is beat 2 teams who have won the IPL 3 times to win their first title.
With Prithvi Shaw and Rishabh Pant in their ranks, Delhi Capitals have dared to dream. And they have learned to dream big. An IPL title is not too far off now.
