If you have watched Gully Boy, you would know how Siddhant Chaturvedi managed to light up the screen as the righteous MC Sher. Chaturvedi's character was a prominent character responsible for the Gully Boy's (played by Ranveer Singh) character to shine through. His introduction in the film was an epic one as he rapped a song, in a freestyle format, to show some hecklers their place in life. Since the film's release, MC Sher was one the most talked about roles and quite a few debates sparked up about MC Sher's demanding screen presence. Now, if reports are to be believed, Siddhant Chaturvedi's MC Sher will be getting his own film!
The MC Sher spin-off (for the lack of a title) will be produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and directed by Gully Boy's director, Zoya Akhtar according to Mumbai Mirror. It seems this decision was taken after debates about MC Sher's origins refused to die down. A source was quoted as saying, “The film is entirely based on Siddhant’s character and traces MC Sher’s journey to becoming a hero. This will also give the makers a chance to delve deeper into the hip hop culture and you can expect many engaging rap battles.”
Siddhant Chaturvedi received a gorgeous bouquet of flowers and a hand-written note by legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan for his praise-worthy performance in Gully Boy. Big B complimented his acting skills as the film was the event of the season.
In an interview with HT, the actor reacted to comments that said he overshadowed Ranveer Singh in the film, "How can anyone overshadow (Ranveer)? We come from the school of thought that we don’t think like that. We are just playing our parts. And no, I was just his mentor and that’s how I look at it. Ultimately the film is about him, the Gully Boy. Ranveer Singh in and as Gully Boy like in and as Simmba. He is the one who has contributed a huge part, he is the one who got the audience into theatres. So I don’t think anyone can (overshadow him). I was in tears watching him in the theatre. So it’s nothing like that."
